The Association of Mountaineering Instructors
The Association of Mountaineering Instructors is the representative body for professionally qualified Mountaineering and Climbing Instructors in the UK and Ireland.
AMI was formed in 1990 to represent the interests of highly experienced mountaineers who have undergone rigorous training and assessment to qualify under the Mountain Training UK (MTUK) Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor Scheme.
All full Members of the Association are qualified Mountaineering and Climbing Instructors, or Winter Mountaineering and Climbing Instructors.
The main aim of AMI Members is to promote, support and developing clients to enable them to become self-reliant climbers and mountaineers.
AMI members will help clients to develop new skills, extend and consolidate existing skills, and give them the best possible positive learning experience. Their priority is to ensure that this learning takes place in a safe and supportive way.
AMI Members work to a Code of Professional Practice which ensures that all Members maintain the same high standards of operation.
AMI is committed to helping its Members continue their personal and professional development throughout their careers and Membership comes with a commitment to undertake Continuous Professional Development.
