Welsh Cycling
Welsh Cycling is the national governing body of cycling in Wales, based at the Geraint Thomas National Velodrome in Newport, with regional hubs in North and West Wales. Â Welsh Cycling provides guidance and support to all forms of cycling in Wales. Whether you are a competitor in one of the six sporting disciplines (Mountain Bike, Cyclo-Cross, Road, Track, BMX and Cycle Speedway), a member of a cycling club, a social rider, cycle commuter, or a dedicated volunteer we want to help you enjoy cycling.
Welsh Cycling has seen success at elite levels, with World, Commonwealth, Olympic and Paralympic champions made in Wales. We continue to support athletes through our performance programmes, feeding in to the Great Britain Cycling Team and representing Team Wales at Commonwealth Games.
Cycling is more than a sport, everyday Welsh Cycling engage with the cycling community in Wales to help them grow and develop coaching, education and volunteer opportunities. We have a network of over 180 affiliated cycling clubs throughout Wales and recreation programmes (including HSBC UK Breeze and Guided Rides), all supporting the local needs of cyclists; providing a social scene, events, rides and competitions.
We also work alongside British Cycling to increase our political influence, lobbying government to make a sustained and resolute commitment to improving conditions for cyclists. In Wales, Welsh Cycling is part of the Active Travel Board, ensuring that the Active Travel (Wales) Act 2013 is implemented to make it easier for people to walk and cycle in Wales.
